My new Toy!

Já a tenho à uma semana mas foi só no fim de semana passado que consegui dedicar-lhe tempo. Já algum tempo que queria comprar uma máquina um pouco mais desenvolvida do que a anterior, mas a verdade é que não estava a pensar que fosse para tão cedo. Mas como a minha máquina não era verdadeiramente minha chegou a altura de a devolver ao seu legitimo proprietário.

Depois de alguma hesitação e horas a olhar para papeis e a comparar preços e caracteristicas lá me decidi pela Brother Innov-is 30. É electrónica, tal como eu queria, e vem preparada com funções especificas para Quilts, embora tenha todas as outras necessárias para a costura em geral.

It has been a week since i have it but was only in the past weekend I got the change to give it a try. I've been wanting new sewing machine for sometime, but a slightly more developed machine than the previous one, but the truth is I was not thinking to get it so soon. But since my machine was not really mine it was time to return it to its rightful owner.

After some hesitation and hours looking at papers and comparing prices and features I decided to buy Brother Innov-is 30. It is electronic, as I wanted, and come prepared with specific functions for Quilts, althoughit has  all other features necessary to sewing in general.

Tem 70 pontos diferentes, incluindo 5 pontos para Quilt e 2 para o Piecing, onde a máquina posiciona a agulha na posição certa para garantir as margens de costura em quartos de polgada.

with 70 different stiches, including five stiches for quilting and two for Piecing, where the machine positions the needle in the right position to ensure the 1/4" seams.

O display permite controlar o tipo de ponto e fornece logo a indicação de qual o pé calçador que se deve utilizar com cada ponto. A regulação do comprimento e largura do ponto é feita também nos comandos e permite selecionar a opção reforço da costura que remate o ponto automáticamente no inicio e no fim da costura.

The display lets you control the type of point and provides an indication of what the presser foot to use with each stich. The regulation of length and width of the stich is also made in the commands and lets you select the option to strengthen the seam that automatically fix the stich at the beginning and end of the sew.

Cose sem pedal, o que para mim foi uma grande inovação, permitindo selecionar a velocidade da costura num botão, o que permite costurar sem variações de ritmo, especialmente em trabalhos de precisão ou costuras circulares que obrigam a velocidades constantes mas mais baixas. Eu ajeitei-me bem sem o pedal mas obriga a uma boa coordenação de mãos porque para iniciar e terminar a costura é necessário ligar e desligar o botão, o que implica soltar uma mão. 

You don't need to use your foot to sew, which to me was a great innovation. Has an on/off button to start ant to stop the sewing and allows you to select the speed of sewing in a button, which is good to sew without variations in speed, especially for precision work or circular seams requiring constant but lower speed. I straightened well without the pedal but requires the coordination of the hands because to start and finish the seam you must press on and off  the button, which implies a free hand.

 A luz da máquina é branca em LED, o que é muito bom para a vista. Veio com oferta desta mesa de extensão que permite ampliar o zona de trabalho e facilitar a costura com trabalhos maiores.

Tem outras mariquices como o enfiamento automático da linha e vem com bastantes acessórios, embora eu tenha aproveitado para comprar os pés calçadores para os quilts, nomeadamente o walking foot, o pé com 1/4" com guia (que já experimentei e adorei) e o pé para Free Motion.

É resistente e silenciosa e é fácil de usar. Fiz a mochila da Mafalda com ela e foi super rápido acabá-la. Fiquei com imensa vontade de fazer mais coisas. 

The ligth is white in LEDs, which is very good for my eyes. And it came with this extension table, as an offer, that allows a bigger working area easier to handle with big projects.

Has other petty things like automatic threading and comes with plenty of accessories, although I also bought a walking foot, a foot with 1/4 "with a guide (I have experienced and loved it) and a Free Motion Quinting feet.

It's strong, it doesn't make to much noise and it's very easy to use. I made Mafaldas backpack and was super fast to finish it. I'm feeling the sewing bug again!
