Hello everyone! I'm back, officially, as a married woman. Not that it makes any difference, but it seems important enough to mention!
I left the previous posts scheduled with some of the things I did for the wedding, not to leave the blog, and you all in suspense during our honeymoon.
I know that by the normal order of things I should share with you my wedding day first and then the honeymoon, but I like to do things in reverse order (Ok, I don't have the wedding photos with me!) I decided to start at the end.
Our first destination was the island Menorca in the Balearic archipelago, in Spain. We visited most of the island, fled from some sites that were like hives for Germans, and spent a good time. Essentially I got to sleep, and believe me, it has been almost 4 years since i slept an intire night, in which I was not awakened by one or by the two of the girls, and I haven't slept more than six hours afterwards. So sleep was the high eccentricity of the trip! So was not to cook and have absolutely no one to call me mom or requiring my attention.
If I miss the girls? A lot but I behaved well. Of course we spent most of our time talking about them and assess whether the places we visited where children friendly to visit with them.
Menorca  is a beautiful island that lives of tourism, produces plenty of varieties of cheese from cows, and produces a typical form of footwear, and furniture that is derived from the tanneries of herding. There's plenty of agricultural activity, even though I thik most is forage and pasture. Recently they've restarted viticulture and wine production, with very good wines, made most with the castes Syrah, Cabernet Souvignon and Chardonnay. It also has white and rose wines. And also a stone exploration seemed to me like calcareous stone, which gave rise to a very interesting project for rehabilitation of the areas already explored in the quarry and that are worth visiting, even though we have to pay.
This photo and the following were taken there. Space is very funny and has truly unique and surprising places. Besides the extraction method is completely different from the portuguese way, which makes huge pits in the ground instead of gnawed hills (as ours).
Eu num banco muito ao estilo Patchwork:
I set at a Patchwork bench:
This figure is a trademark of the quarry and represents a man. It's huge, but from the picture we don't have the notion of scale.
One of the wells of the quarry has a maze, built with stone blocks, just like they are extracted. This is a real labyrinth, in the style of Alice in Wonderland, and although the stones come in only a little above the knee, is not so easy to find the way. I had help since my husband (sounds good, does not it?) was a few meters above to tell me where to go!

Here is another well. It seems to me that this is the largest. You can see the impressive size and the structure and depth where we were. Of course, in here the heat gave us a break.
And speaking of the weather we were very lucky with it, although we have not had time to stay in the beach, because we only had 3 full days here.
The north of the island has beaches in small coves cut into the cliffs, the sand is fine and white!

The cuts ain the coast are deep and very irregular, forming coves sheltered from the wind and currents, making them particularly pleasant.

In the south things are different. Continental shelves are bare, which means that there are fewer and smaller beaches since there is almosta no sand, but still white and fine. And it more like a tourists area with many locations consisting exclusively of apartments, aparthotels and hotels, without a single household feature.

The island has two major cities, the economic capital Mahon and the "tourist capital" Cuitadella. My favorite was Es Mercadal, for reminding me so much of our Alentejo, having hospitable people, and a great place to eat good, which for us Portuguese itself is a major factor!
Aqui podem ver as vistas de Maó. Mahon site seeing.
E aqui as de Ciutadella. Ciutadella site seeing.
Some of the historical points of interest are the Tower of Fornells and the lighthouse, beyond the quarries already shown. There are many museums and a lot to visit, but we the portuguese people, are not culturally distant from the Spanish, and a significant part of the Spanish history is also Portuguese history, so these "attractions" especially those related to military events didn't cought our attention. When the portuguese people weren't fighting the spaninh people, they were fighting side by side with the spanish people, so it's more or less the same thing.

Aqui a Torre de Fornells. The Fornells Tower.
Aqui o farol de Cavelleria. The Cavalleria Lighthouse
Finda a visita à Menorca, aqui fica o balanço:

There are also many caves, most of them accessible only by boat. There is a lot cruises and other activities such as horse riding or racing karts.

In addition to the historical and cultural heritage, which is many and very interesting, Menorca also has a natural heritage that is classified by UNESCO.
After my visit to Menorca, here's my balance:
Things I did for the first time: Travel by plain (no, I wasn't  afraid) and see and feel the Mediterranean Sea. I still have 5 more oceans to see!
Things I did the second tim: spend a night alone with V. with no kids (the wedding night does not count!) and being on an island (the first was the portuguese Berlengas)
Very good things of the trip: bathe the feet in meditterranean sea and sleep a lot.
Funny things to remember: the 5 hours we spent at Barcelona airport waiting for flight to Menorca, and the expressions of V whenever I insisted in talking in Portuguese with the spanish people, without the slightest inflection in the  pronounce, which earned us an absolutely Preveligied treatment within the community of "nuetros hermanos" especially among the ones from Galicia with whom we meet on the hotel.
Greater opportunities: to be with each other, alone, kids free, for the very second time since we started dating.
Things not so good: the distance from the girls.
