E o silêncio a elouquecer-me...

Two years ago a light went off here on earth and lit up another star in the firmament. She said goodbye in peace, but many words were left unsaid. Always are.

She left me so much, that only the distance that time allows makes me understand the enormity of this heritage. And I'm very grateful for that.
That night I remember the fear of not knowing how to live without her and the urgency of not letting me go down. I stayed so strong that even the doctor surprised my calm, and there I was with the saline bag in my hands while the medical team tried to forcibly bring back to life her old heart. But the important thing was to be there with her, because thats what she wanted, at home and never alone. And thats what I wanted, at home and always by her side. Because when it's my turn I also want someone who loves me by my side, someone who knows how important it is not to leave alone, someone giving me a kiss and telling me that it is okay to rest now and we'll be alright, although i'll be missed.
Then I was alone at home, Mafalda was sleeping in the cradle, the night seemed endless and I had no one to talk ... Arrange the remains of the confusion so that my mother did not have to deal with it ... And the maddening silence... Do not know for how long, i just kept the feeling of silence in my head, as if everything had been suspended at that time.
Slowly we start to get used to living without the light that has always been with us and the more time goes by more I miss her, who gave me so much, but so much of what I am, and it is and will always be an example of strength and courage to live and face the difficulties of life with your head up and a lot of faith in a better tomorrow.
A big kiss for you grandmother, wherever you are...

Mary Ann disse...

I'm sorry for your loss, Mariana.
I heard someone once say, "You can only experience sorrow if you have experienced love."
I thought that was so very true.
All the best!
