Carnival Costume

No dia em que as escolas do país celebram o carnaval com os nossos catraios, é dia de partilhar esta primeira celebração do carnaval da Mafalda.

O fato é de palhaço e foi feito por mim e pela minha irmã. Combinamos este ano irmos mascarados de igual e assim vamos ter três palhacinhas e um palhacinho. Os fatos são semelhantes e conjugam entre si os tecidos. Os moldes foram muito adaptados de uma revista e a conjugação de tecidos é totalmente nossa. O meu e o da Mafalda são iguais entre si com alguns tecidos dos fatos da minha irmã e do meu sobrinho. Eles têm os fatos também iguais nos tecidos embora ele vá, obviamente, de calças e ela de vestido como nós. Os fatos dos miúdos ficaram prontos antes porque hoje já era dia de se vestirem, os nossos ainda estão em processo de fabrico mas consegui completar o meu vestido a tempo da festa na escola.

De relevante há ainda para dizer que, apesar de ser este o primeiro ano em que se mascara, a Mafalda aderiu a tudo isto com muito entusiasmo, acho que ajudei também ao vestir-me como ela, pelo menos reviu-se em mim, o que ajudou a aceitar este processo com mais naturalidade.

Também tem sido muito bom partilhar as tardes de costura com a minha irmã, por quatro razões. Primeiro porque a costura tem sido um hábito solitário para mim e para variar um pouco sabe sempre bem entrar num projecto com outras pessoas e partilhar a evolução do mesmo com outros que têm o mesmo nivel de entusiasmo. Segundo porque me lembra e muito dos tempos em que ainda erámos miúdas e inventávamos coisas para fazer a dois, como um tapete de esmirna que demorou anos a fazer e que um dia ainda hei de fotografar para aqui o mostrar. Terceiro porque passamos muito pouco tempo juntas (vida de adulto...) e tenho muitas saudades do nosso tempo de miúdas, do tempo em que ainda estávamos os três em casa, e dos infinitos planos que faziamos para ocupar o nosso tempo. E quarto porque os "nossos gémeos" têm mais tempo para estarem um com o outro e para brincarem juntos durante mais tempo e menos condicionados.

Agora digam lá, é ou não é a palhacinha mais linda, mais fofinha, mais doce e mais original da história da humanidade?!

Today is the day schools celebrate the carnival with the little ones. Carnival day is next tuesday but today they start a small school hollidays, and so they celebrate it today.

Thsi year is the firts year Mafalda celebrates carnival. The costume was made by me and my sister. This year we decided to do it together and to make costumes for both of us and for our childs. The costumes are similar to each other. Mine and Mafaldas are iqual and have some fabrics from their costume. My sister will have a dress just like ours but in the same fabric of my nefews pants, and in their coat will have some fabrics from our costume. Our costumes are not ready yet as we will need them only in tuesday but the litle peoples costumes get ready just in time for school party!

This is Mafaldas first carnival celebration but she has been excited with all this. I think i've helped by dressing my costume too. I think that by seeing me in my costume she embrassed this celebration naturaly, and was not hard to convince her to dress and leave the house in her costume.

It has been realy good to share some sewing afternoons with my sister. First because sewing has been a lonely habit for me and it's always good to share some sewing moments with others that have the same entusiasm as you in a project. Second because it reminds me of thoose times when we were litlle girls and kept inventing projects to fill our time, like a kind of a rug that we made together that took years to get done! Third because we are spending few time together this days and i miss a lot my child days arround in my parents house with my sister and my brother and i miss all of those crazy projects we made to keep ourselfs happy and occupied! And the last but not the least Mafalda and Eduardo get the chance to spend more time together and play together like me and his mother did, lots of years ago!
