Dear Jane #12

A3 - Hunter's Moon

Mais um com aplicações! Este tem 3 camadas e 4 costuras só para "enfeitar" porque na realidade não fazem falta nenhuma porque podia muito bem ser inteiro. Mas a jane tinha que se entreter e eu também e por isso lá resisti à tentação de encurtar o caminho!

Demorou cerca de duas horas a fazer. Não foi mau nem ficou perfeito, mas está feito!

Another apliqque block! This one has 3 layers of fabric and 4 seams that seem totaly unecessary to me! But Jane had to keep herself occupied and so have I! I beat the tentation of leaving the from piece uncut and did the block just as Jane! It took me about 2 hours and it was ok! It's not perfect but it's done!

New in stash - Dear Jane #11

Chegaram na semana passada e são lindos! Vieram da loja The Cotton Loft e chegaram cá tão depressa como se tivessem vindo da Europa, acho que chegaram cá uma semana depois de ter feito a encomenda!

D13 - Field of Dreams

Talvez o bloco mais fácil de todo o quilt. Demorou cerca de 1 hora a ficar pronto.

This must be the easiest DJ block. It took me about an hour to cut the fabric, iron the frezzer paper on it and hand piece.

B1 - Batchelor Buttons

O primeiro bloco com aplicação. Esta foi feita usando a técnica de reverse apliqque e foi rápido de fazer embora o meu ponto ainda não seja o mais brilhante. Gostei de fazer mas preciso de muita, muita mais prática nisto. Ainda assim o tempo total gasto com este bloco foi 2 horas. Nada mau. O meu próximo DJ já vai ter um Bloco B1 mais perfeitinho mas por agora dou-me por feliz com este. É melhor feito que perfeito!

This was my first apliqque block. I made it with the reverse apliqque technique. It took me 2 hours, pretty quick! But i have to practice a lot more in apliqque, i'm not totaly happy with my stitches but i now i'll get there. My next DJ quilt will have a perfect B1 block, but for this one i'll let it as it is. Done is better then perfect!

Dear Jane #8

A-1 Pinwheel Gone Awry

Este bloco tem um nível de dificuldade intermédio. Não foi difícil de fazer mas foi bastante trabalhoso com tantas peças (28) e tão pequenas. Ainda assim deu um gozo bestial e o resultado final é um espectáculo!

O Bloco demorou cerca de 5 horas a fazer, incluindo o tempo de preparação dos tecidos.

Mas vou voltar às dificuldades mais baixas!

I made this block just to try a diferent dificulty level. It was not hard but the number of pieces makes it a long work! In the end this is a beautiful block. It took me about 5 hours to get it done, non continuous off course!

Anyway i'll keep up with blocks in the begginer dificulty level, as they are presented in DJ software.

Mais outro Kimono, desta vez em azul. Parece que finalmente o sol está a cooperar!

Another Kimono! This one is blue with small pink, yellow and white tiny flowers! Hope spring cames quickly!

Dear Jane #6

Este é o meu primeiro bloco do Dear Jane. Eu sei, já o tinha mostrado ontem! Mas hoje ele está diferente, não notam?

É que entretanto cosi a moldura, ou o sashing para facilitar depois a montagem final. Assim à medida que os blocos forem ficando prontos é só cosê-los uns aos outros que o sashing já está contemplado!

This is my firts Dear Jane Block. Is block A6 - Uncle Homer. I know i've already  posted a photo of it! But today this block is diffrent, can't you see?

I already sew the sashing as it will make it easier to piece all blocks together. And i think it looks so different! And so much better now!

E agora a novidade é o meu segundo bloco do Dear Jane! Também está quase quase! A foto está um bocadinho desactualizada porque já tem duas das colunas da moldura! Este é o B13 - Four Corner Press. Hesitei muito em relação aos tecidos que queria usar porque o bloco original não tem o correspondente ao tecido branco. É todo feito com o que me parece serem dois tecidos diferentes. Só que há um deles que tem um padrão tão caracteristico que acaba por parecer que são três. Não consegui recriar o efeito e achei que juntar um terceiro tecido de cor seria saturar o bloco e torná-lo tão diferente dos outros que no final este acabava por se destacar. Acabou por ficar assim e eu gosto dele como está.

Estou a gostar cada vez mais de fazer estes blocos! Quem por aí anda indecisa faça o favor de reunir os materiais necessários e começar que nem imagina o que anda a perder!

And now the news is my second Dear Jane block ! It is almost done! The picture is a little outdated because I have two columns of the shashing sew in the block! This is the B13 - Four Corner Press. I hesitated a lot on my fabric selection because I wanted to make it as close as possible to the original block, and in the picture this block has no background fabric. It's all done with what I think are two different fabrics, but one of them has a characteristic pattern that allows the block to look like if there are three fabrics in it. I could not recreate the effect and thought that joining a third fabric color would saturate the block and make it much different from others. I think the way i made it come along quite well and most important I really like it as it is.

I am enjoying more and more to make these blocks! Who walks around undecided please feel free to gather the necessary materials and begin you DJ journey! You don't even imagine what you're missing!

Dear Jane #5

Este é o primeiro bloco do meu Dear Jane. Apesar do software ainda não ter chegado resolvi experimentar fazer um dos blocos mais simples e ver se corria bem. Não correu mal mas tenho que rever as margens porque ainda me troco um bocadinho com as polegadas. Mas de uma forma geral acho que correu muito bem. Demorou 2 horas a fazer, desde colar o frezzer paper e cortar os bocadinhos de tecido até ter o bloco completo. Foi inteiramente cosido à mão e deixou-me ainda com mais vontade de continuar. É o bloco A-6 Uncle Homer.

This is the first block of my Dear Jane. Although the software has not yet arrived  i decided to try making one of the easier blocks. It was not bad but I have to review the seam allowance because it's still dificult for me to work in inches. But in general I think it went very well. It took 2 hours to do, since ironing the frezzer paper and cut small pieces of fabric until having the entire block. It was entirely hand-stitched and made me have even more desire to continue. The block is A-6 Uncle Homer.

Waiting for Spring

Passei as noites da semana passada a fazer este kimono para a Mafalda. O molde é super simples e é mesmo muito rápido de fazer. Foi-me enviado por uma amiga da blogosfera e como não tem direitos reservados se alguém estiver interessado é só deixar por aqui um comentário ou então mandem-me um e-mail. O esquema está em inglês mas é muito fácil de acertar com isto. Over the past week i have been working in this kimono for Mafalda.  Também fiz estes ganchos para o cabelo e acho que o conjunto vai ficar delicioso.
