Já enviei o meu mini quilt para a troca "Fall Quilt Swap" promovida pelo Quilting Gallery.

A minha parceira de troca queria receber algo inspirado no Halloween o que acabou por tornar-se num bom desafio para mim, não só porque não tenho tecidos com esse tema mas também porque não é muito português essa coisa do halloween, não está na nossa cultura!.

 Neste post de à uns meses atrás partilhava a necessidade de alguma liberdade criativa, um pouco afastada dos esteriótipos. Fazer algo meu, diferente, sem base e sem rede. E acho que funcionou.

Demorou muito tempo até achar a forma certa. Fiz mais de 20 desenhos e tentei um pouco de tudo. Acabei por me dar por satisfeita com um desses desenhos mas depois ainda tive dúvidas quando passei para o pano. Já de tecidos na mão acabei por achar que esta era a forma certa. E assim nasceu o meu primeiro quilt 100% meu, do principio ao fim!

Os tecidos são relativamente simples, lisos, com pintas, com estampados de flores e as bolas que vieram dos estados unidos. O binding faz parte de um tecido que a prima trouxe do Senegal para mim! Acho que resultaram muito bem juntos. Foi 100% feito à mão, ponto por ponto aplicado com muito carinho e depois quiltado à volta das aplicações para mais relevo e na barra preta o padrão imita as teias das aranhas, um toque muito meu para quem me conhece!

Este quilt chegará em breve ao seu destino... O CANADA! E em breve terá uma nova dona: a Deedee Einarson! Espero que ela goste desta minha visão do Halloween!

My mini Quilt is travelling! I made this one for the Fall Quilt Swap promoted by the Quilting Gallery.  My swap partener wanted a halloween related quilt and that was really a great challenge, because i don't have any halloween fabrics in my stash and in Portugal we do not cellebrate halloween, it's not part of our culture!

Anyway in this post i wrote about me need to crete something mine, the need to let my criativity flow on it's own way. And this was a great opportunity to do it!

It took me quite some time and i made more than 20 drawings till i get the rigth one. And the when i was sellecting the fabrics i changed my mind and made some more changes in the pattern! But i thing i made it rigth! And now i'm presenting you my first 100% mine quilt!

The fabrics are simple, just a few dots, solid fabrics and small flowers. It's 100% hand pieced and hand quilted! The binding is made with a part of a fabric my cousin brougth me from Senegal. I quilted around the aplique for a bit of texture and the quilt pattern in the border is a spider web, a very personal touch has i have a thing with spiders!

This no longer mine quilt will be arriving soon to... CANADA! And will have a new owner: Deedee Einarson! I hope she likes my Halloween!

   

2010

Hoje acaba oficialmente o Natal. Tenho que admitir que gosto do dia de hoje pelo fim que representa. Gosto muito do Natal. Gosto ainda mais quando se acaba. Gosto de voltar a ter a minha casa arrumada, sem árvore nem presentes nem confusão. Gosto de poder voltar a estar centrada na rotina normal, sem estar constantemente a pensar no que ainda falta comprar ou fazer. Gosto do regresso da normalidade, se é que isso existe.

Não vou fazer um balanço do ano porque vocês que me leêm estiveram por aqui e acompanharam este 2009 que foi bom para mim. Vou só rematar o ano e dizer que fiz muitas coisas lindas para oferecer e que por falta de tempo e por ter muita pressa em embrulhar tudo e despachar tudo, acabei por não tirar fotos a nada, o que era expectável. Corri, dormi pouco, gastei muito dinheiro, tive uma trabalheira doida a fazer doces de natal para toda a gente, num esforço épico para não deixar de participar na tradição, e às 18 horas do dia 24 tinha tudo pronto. Tomei banho, dei banho à Mafalda, pusemo-nos lindas e fomos celebrar o Natal em familia. E ao sair da porta surgiu-me a 1º resolução de ano novo: ACALMAR!

Desde então tenho estado em "terapia" para acalmar o ritmo dos dias, a ver se chego pelo menos aos 80. Não está a ser fácil porque a cabeça não para e o tempo não estica em função daquilo que eu quero fazer. Mas é urgente acalmar e centrar-me na minha familia, no tempo de qualidade e nas coisas boas que se podem fazer a 3. Depois o que sobrar é para dedicar às coisas que se podem fazer a dois (como jogar playstation!) e o que sobrar é para dormir. Vá lá... Vou continuar a roubar um bocadinho de tempo ao sono para me dedicar às artes, mas pouco, o suficiente para sobreviver.

Agora o 2010... Daqui de onde estou parece-me que trabalho não vai faltar, a adivinhar por estes primeiros dias... O que é bom atendendo à conjuntura económica e social do país. O que implica uma melhor organização do meu tempo para dormir.

Assim os meus objectivos para 2010 são:

1. dormir mais e melhor
2. gerir melhor o meu stress
3. dedicar mais tempo de qualidade à familia
4. arranjar uma arca frigorifica para poder gerir melhor as minhas rotinas domésticas e ter mais tempo para o essencial.
5. centrar-me o mais possivel no desempenho das minhas tarefas a nivel profissional (acreditem que este ano vai ser preciso duas ou três de mim por aqui)
6. 
   
   terminar os meus WIP's
   
7. Não começar mais do que 3 novos projectos este ano
   

Tenho a certeza que há mais mas por agora é o que me lembro. Acima de tudo quero VIVER este ano e aproveitar o que de melhor vier e ter serenidade e confiança para ultrapassar os obstáculos que encontrar pelo caminho.

Para terminar quero desejar a todos um grande ano de 2010. Que este ano vos traga as realizações que desejarem e que sejam muito felizes na companhia dos que amam.

Today is officialy the last day of Xmas. I like this day by it's meaning. I do like Xmas but i like it even more when it's over. I like to have my house back into the normal track, with no tree and no presents and no mess. I like to be able to focus on my daily rotine without the pressure of the presents i still have to make or buy. I like my normal days... if i have any...

I'm not going to make a review of the last year because you have all been arround here and shared this last year with me, so you all now what i've been up to and my memory is still fine. I'm just gone a share the last days of 2009 with you and tell you that i've made lots of presents to offer but i was in such a hurry that a had no time to take a picture of them to show, i guess that we all saw that coming! I ran, i slept to little, i spent lots of money, i baked like a crazy old lady just to keep the traditions running and by 6:00 pm of the 24th of December i had it all done, all presents ready, all the baking done. I took a bath, i gave Mafalda a bath, we dressed up and we went to our family dinner. And then it hit me! My first new year resolution: SLOW DOWN!

Ever since, i've been in a sort of terapy to slow down my rithm, to see if i can make it until the 80's! It's hard because my head just don't stop and my time does not streech equally to the amount of things i want to do.

But i do have to slow down and spend more quality time with my family, and do fun sutf with the number 3. Then with the leftover time i want to do fun stuf with the number 2 (like play with me new playstation) and with the rest of it i want to get some good sleep. Ok, Ok! I'll still gone a steal some time to my sleeping hours for crafting, just the enought for surviving!

Now for 2010... from here i'm standing it seems that i'll have lots of work, guessing from this first days! Wich is a good this attending to the economical and social conjuncture of this country. I think i'll have to reorganize my sleeping time!

I've set myself a few goals for this year:

1. sleep more and better
2. learn to manage my stress better
3. have more quality time with my family
4. get another freezer so i can readjust my domestic rotines and have more time for the essencial
5. focus the best i can on my work (this will be a hard year and i'll be needing two or tree of me arround here)
6. Finish all my WIP's
7. Don't allow myself to start more than 3 new peojects this year

I'm sure i'm forgeting something but for now this will do. I want to LIVE this year and enjoy all the good things and have the necessary serenity and trust to deal with all the dificulties on the way.

And to end this long post i want to wish you all a great 2010 and may this year bring you all the realizations that you are wishing and may you all be very, very happy with your loved ones.

Pelos anos da Mafalda fiz estas bonecas para oferecer às educadoras e auxiliares da escola. Fizeram tanto sucesso que acabei por fazer mais uma de encomenda!

I made this felt dolls brooches to offer Mafaldas teachers as a birthday "remember me" gift. They made such a big success that i was asked to make one more!

Preparar o Natal!

Tenho andado, como todos nós, a preparar a Natal. Vai daí a minha demora em passar por aqui e escrever qualquer coisa, mais não seja dizer que ainda estou aqui. A árvore de Natal foi montada religiosamente no dia 1 de Dezembro, como sempre foi tradição na minha familia. Este ano apeteceu-me mesmo fazer a árvore de Natal, não sei se é da vida nova na casa nova e do regresso a uma vida normal ou se é de ver a excitação da Mafalda com tudo isto, mas a verdade é que já hà muito tempo que não me apetecia e deste vez apeteceu.

É também dos primeiros anos em que não me sinto verdadeiramente deprimida com esta altura mas continuo a ter que trabalhar muito na gestão do stress. Acho que nesta altura quero fazer ainda mais coisas do que no resto do ano e claro que o tempo não dá para tudo. Ainda assim está a ser bom voltar a sentir-me no espirito do Natal.

Em casa já hà embrulhos por todo o lado e no outro dia fui dar com a Mafalda sentada debaixo da arvore a desembrulhar presentes, muito compenetrada na sua tarefa! Por sorte eram os presentes dos tios senão já não tinham ordem de voltar para a àrvore. Mas ainda lhe é estranho esse conceito do dia de Natal porque ela não entende porque é que tem de esperar se as prendas estão ali à frente dela!

Este mês tem passado a correr, mais do que os outros, e quase nem dá para acreditar que estamos a pouco mais de uma semana para o Natal! E daí até ao fim do ano é um fósforo! Ah! Mas estou-me a esquecer que antes disso, antes até do Natal ainda tenho de fazer uma paragem pelo meu aniversário... Lá terei de fazer os 30 não é?!

I have been busy preparing my Xmas and i haven't posted anything in the last few days. Still i'm here, live and well!

I have made my Xmas tree in the 1st of December as it is in my family tradition. This year i rely felt like doing it and i don't know if it was because my new life in the new house or just because having a toddler makes all the difference!

Maybe a bit of both! But the point is i really felt like doing my Xmas tree and make it as beautiful as i could! This is also one of the first times i really don't fell depressed with all this Xmas stress and i have been rather happy with all this Xmas spirit again! Still i want to do to much things and i still have to little time for it, but that's just the way it is! 

I have lots of present around my tree and just the other day i found Mafalda very quiet sittinh under the tree opening presents! Lucky for me she was opening her uncles presents because if she had found her ones they would't be able to go under the tree again! Lucky me!

She still doens't understand why she has to wait to open the presents when they are just in front of her! But that's beeing a kid, right?

December is passing by so fast that i find it hard to belive we are a week away from Xmas! And after cames the new year! Still a have to make i stop just before Xmas to celebrate my Birthday! It seems i'll be turning 30 this year!

Nos anos uns primos ofereceram à Mafalda estes autocolantes de decoração, próprios para colar na parede laváveis e que podem ser colados e descolados umas quantas vezes. estivemos entretidas a colar e a Mafalda entrou em delirio com o efeito final! Pelo caminho quis colaborar e dar um toque pessoal à decoração e descolou alguns e voltou a colar. Entretanto parece que esta é a versão final!

This deco stickers were ofered to Mafalda as a birthday present. They are washable and are proper to glue on walls and can be removed and glue again and again! We had a great time chosing wich ones would go where and she add a litle of her personel touch by removing some of the sickers and placed them where she wanted! This is the final result!
